Welcome to our Deaf Community Projects

This blog category is dedicated to events, training, news, technologies and work opportunities that can benefit people in the deaf community. Our Internet Accessibility programs are championed by Mr. Sthembiso Xhakaza and Mr. Kodishang Tshwaane, who are both serving in the ISSAC Executive committee of 2025/2026. The aim is to help with Internet Accessibility awareness and help to encourage local website developers to add features and tools that help keep the Internet Open & Free For All. We hope that these articles will help empower you and your organisation.

Ai Expo Africa 2025

Ai Expo Africa 2025

We are proud to announce that we will be taking 14 young people from the deaf community to this year's Ai Expo Africa, taking place on the 30th of October 2025, in Sandton, Johannesburg. Ai Expo Africa is Africa’s largest Artificial Intelligence & Intelligent Automation trade show & conference, which connects enterprise buyers with global & local suppliers. This year, they will be hosting the 1st UN ITU AI4Good Impact Africa.

Joining our group will be young people from Delinkani, Soweto. By having some of the youth from our community network project, we hope that they will learn and see the needs of the deaf community. This is so that when they build their community network, they take into account Internet Accessibility for all.

This initiative would not be possible if it were not for Google South Africa, which is passionate about empowering marginalised communities in the country through innovative technologies and Ai tools for educators.
